Re:     More Burglaries In Our Neighborhood

Unfortunately, we have been informed of 3 burglaries in our Campolindo neighborhood in the past month:  one on Moraga Road and two on Via Granada.

Please continue to look after your home and those of your neighbors.  The police say that the following actions can help to deter burglars:

á      Keep your home looking like you are at home.  Keep a car in front and move it around so they canŐt figure out if you are at home or not.  Most burglaries have occurred during daylight hours.

á      Keep doors and windows locked.  One entry was made thru an open window.  DonŐt leave a key in an obvious Ňhiding spotÓ outside.

á      Lock your cars, even if in garage.  Remove the garage door opener from your car.

á      Take measures to make your side door as secure as your front door.

á      Consider installing motion detector lights around your property.

á      Keep valuable jewelry in safe deposit box.

á      Keep doorways, windows and porches clear- bushes that provide you with privacy can give a burglar a place to hide.  Lock gates to side yard.

á      Consider investing in a burglar alarm.

á      Get to know your neighbors, watch each otherŐs properties during vacation or other absences, and call Moraga PD immediately at 284-5010 to report any suspicious car, van, or persons in your area.  Provide car description and license plate #.  The police would rather question innocent persons than not catch criminals.  Be aware of a slow moving vehicle, driven by a person who pauses, or parks and remains in the vehicle.  One recent car in driveway was white Honda or Ford Tempo.

á      Notify your neighbors and a board member if you are robbed.  Board contacts are Michael DeChenne at 283-5664 or Irene Gessling at 283- 6409.

Although Moraga (and the Lamorinda area) continues to be one of the safest places to live in the state, it is very important for all residents to be vigilant regarding any suspicious activity in our neighborhood!
