5) Landscaping/Master Plan RFP: Nazzi will
mail the RFP this week and give responses to Cathleen and Mike since Nazzi is
retiring from the Board in February.
Jim was contacted by a landscaping company concerning a revised bid for
stamped cement at the entrance to the pool. Jim will accept a bid and provide it to the board at the
February meeting.
6) Update on CHOA Member Requested Items for
2008:
a)
Talk to
the Town about street lights on Campolindo Drive by the high school. (Irene) – Brad
had a conversation with Randy Leptien, a consultant for the Town of
Moraga. He felt that we have 2
choices – CHOA pay for the light estimated to cost $20,000 or petition to
put the issue on the ballot at the next election. To win, the ballot measure would need to pass by 50% or more
of the vote. After a discussion
of options, the board agreed to pursue the matter further by having Sandy and
Irene write a letter to the Town Attorney, requesting time to discuss the issue
at a future town meeting. Nazzi
will provide Sandy and Irene with information concerning lighting
requirements. The board believes
that the Town of Moraga and Acalanes School District should support and
contribute to proper lighting near the baseball field on Campolindo Drive. The lack of lighting is considered to
be a safety hazard that may create a legal and financial threat for the town
and school district.
b)
Put
Landscape plan on Web site. (Jim) Issue was not discussed at this meeting.
c)
Talk to
Town About Road Repair. ( Sandy) Sandy talked to Dan Bernie at Public Works. Dan indicated that he has a $100,000
budget for pothole repairs.
Otherwise, there is no money for resurfacing at this time. The town has an index for roads ranging
from 1-100; 70-100 is considered smooth.
Many of our roads are rated in the 20-40 range. The Town is going to resurface Moraga
Road between Sky Hy and Campolindo HS during the summer of 2009. Dan Bernie did not know if that project
has been budgeted yet. Sandy is
going to contact the town engineer, Jill Mercurio, to determine if the work has
been budgeted and, if not, to pursue whether some of the main thoroughfares in
our neighborhood could be included in the budget for that project. Otherwise, Sandy will discuss with Jill
whether the 2010 budget can include money to repair some of our roads.
7)
Burglaries: Irene
and Mike prepared and delivered a letter to all neighbors notifying them of the
recent burglaries. The letter was
appreciated by many.
8)
January
29, 2009 HOA Meeting: Nazzi
will make a sign for the meeting.
Greg believes we have enough ballots to meet the 10 percent quorum
requirement. Andy Berkes will be
introduced as well as new board members.
9) Trimming of Trees: Jim and
Cathleen expressed concern about the recent trimming of palm trees at the
pool. Both board members felt we
should hold on optional landscaping expenses that exceed $500 until the master
plan is approved.
Greg Wilson closed the meeting at 8:31 p.m.
